The EDA Center | at the University of Minnesota
Completed Research Projects

Each year the EDA Center selects a research project that will provide valuable information to economic development practitioners and public officials alike. For 2009 the EDA is conducting a study examining the adoption and utilization of broadband Internet technology among businesses throughout rural Minnesota. The Rural Business Broadband Study is being conducted with the assistance of Minnesota's Regional Development Commissions and the West Central Initiative (for more information on these organizations click here).

Utilizing a regional approach to data collection, each of the participating development organizations are collecting data from rural businesses within their respective regions and the EDA Center is responsible for the overall data analysis and report writing. As a result of this unique partnership, valuable data will be collected across rural Minnesota and at the same time, these regional organizations will have the opportunity to learn more about businesses within their respective regions.
